Just a Mom

Two posts in one week...shocking, I know! I had to share this great quote by G. K. Chesterton I read today that really put in perspective what it means to be "just a mom." "To be Queen Elizabeth within a definite area, deciding sales, banquets, labors, and holidays; to be Whitely within a certain area, providing toys, boots, cakes, and books; to be Aristotle within a certain area, teaching morals, manners, theology, and hygiene; I can understand how this might exhaust the mind, but I cannot imagine how it could narrow it. How can it be a large career to tell other people's children about the Rule of Three, and a small career to tell one's own children about the universe? How can it be broad to be the same thing to everyone and narrow to be everything to someone? No, a woman's function is laborious, but because it is gigantic, not because it is minute." (from What's Wrong with the World)

What a great quote. I will pass this on to Beth. I am sure she will be encouraged by it.

Nice to see some photos. Way to go! Have you tried picassa? It is a free download and it organizes all of your images automatically. It is truly amazing. You can also post them to blogger without a lot of hastle. It has lots of easy to use features, too much to tell.

Tell Shane Hi for me! I've tried to call a couple times. We hope to talk with you guys soon.

I love to read your philosophizing (is that a word...?), so keep it coming! That is an incredible quotation- I wish we were made to read it when we were 16 so we could understand our moms and all we put them through! Loverly to talk with you!

It's wonderful reading about you and your family...not to mention being an audience to entertain your thoughts. I love the updates, the pics and in Ash's words "your philosophizing."

Love from Ga,
Jamie
